Curriculum Vitae

Inspired by her love of film music, Canadian composer Amanda Steinemann expresses her lyrical and emotional melodies throughout both her concert works and film scores. She has taken part in various composition workshops including the Victoria Symphony’s New Explorations Workshop, the Vancouver Inter-Cultural Orchestra’s Summer Academy, the Palomar Film Music Workshop, and the Film Scoring Academy of Europe’s Summer Program. Additionally, one of her compositions was selected to be performed by the UVic Symphony Orchestra from a Canada-wide call for orchestral shorts in 2018. She has studied composition with Anna Höstman, Annette Brosin, and Jan Randall.

As an instrumentalist, Amanda has performed as a member of the Greater Victoria Youth Orchestra since 2013 on both violin and viola and has attended the GVYO’s Summer String Camps as both a participant and as a viola teaching assistant. She has also performed in both solo and chamber music settings as well as with various fiddle groups and as part of the pit orchestra for musical theatre productions at Claremont Secondary School.
